The frigate tuna or frigate mackerel, Auxis thazard thazard, is a subspecies of tuna, in the family Scombridae, found around the world in tropical oceans.

No single category of nutrient has been more clearly determined to have anti-inflammatory health benefits than omega-3 fatty acids, and tuna is equally well-established as an important food source of omega-3s. In an average 5-ounce can of tuna, you are likely to get about 7-28 milligrams of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and 140-850 milligrams of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).

Tuna contains the mineral selenium in an unusual form called selenoneine. This form of selenium plays an important role in the health of the fish by serving as an antioxidant and protecting the fish's red blood cells from free radical damage.

Frigate Tuna can used in many ways such as grilled, baked, steamed , fried etc. In Kerala, Ayala Choora fish curry, ayala choora fry, ayala choora polichathu etc. are the main dishes prepared by Frigate TunaSilver biddies (singular: silver biddy), also spelled silver-biddies, is the name used to refer to bony fishes belonging to the Gerreidae family in the order Perciformes.
